Thank you for taking the time to learn more about the man who seeks to continue to earn your trust as the 110th District Representative.
From a personal perspective, I am a father to three wonderful children, a husband to an amazing wife and mother, endeavor to be a faithful Christian servant and raise my family by that standard, and earn a living as a partner at one of Henry County’s oldest law firms.
I was born and raised in Henry County and returned with my wife as soon as we were able following Law School and her subsequent graduate studies in New York. In fact, we packed a truck the day after she graduated and drove home to McDonough. We are proud to raise our family here surrounded by loved ones and many of my childhood friends and their families.
Through engagement with the Henry County Chamber of Commerce as a Board Member and ultimately the Chair thereof, it became apparent to me that so much of what impacts our communities is directly influenced by policies and legislation upon which we have an opportunity to weigh in through our elected representation. When long-time representative John Lunsford decided to step down from the House to run for the State Senate seat left vacant by Senator John Douglas, my wife and I made the decision that I would pursue the opportunity to take what we believed to be my God-given talent for advocacy and consensus-building to the Capitol on behalf of the citizens of the 110th District.
Everyone who runs for office has a resume. I share mine so that you understand the experiences that I draw upon in endeavoring to be the best advocate for the 110th District that I can be.
I am a licensed attorney in New York and Georgia. Prior to beginning the practice of Law I clerked for the Federal Court Judges of the Northern District of New York. Immediately following that service I joined a Syracuse law firm as an Associate practicing primarily land use law. Upon returning to Georgia I joined the law firm that is now Smith, Welch, Webb and White as an Associate handling municipal law, land use and zoning law, and litigation. I have been with the firm for 12 years now and am currently a partner continuing to practice in those areas.
In 2010 I was elected to serve the people of the 110th District in the Georgia State House. I have proudly served for two term (four years) as a legislator. It has been an incredible experience and I have thoroughly enjoyed engaging with the many members of this District and community who have actively sought to share their thoughts, concerns and ambitions for their families with me. I am thankful to all of those who have put their faith in me to represent your interests and communities at the Georgia House of Representatives. It is a privilege and an honor to do so. During my first term I served on the Judiciary, Children and Youth, and Education committees.
